ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
Barbara Ungar confronts the sixth extinction in her latest book, After Naming the Animals. Her prior book, Save Our Ship, addresses climate change, and won the Snyder Prize from Ashland Poetry Press. Other books include The Origin of the Milky Way, which won the Gival Poetry Prize, Immortal Medusa, and Charlotte Brontë, You Ruined My Life. Professor emerita from The College of St Rose, she lives in Saratoga Springs, New York. www.barbaraungar.net
Sarah Giragosian weaves together the dying of the earth with the sudden death of her mother in her new collection, Mother Octopus, which is a co-winner of the Halcyon Prize from Middle Creek Press. Prior books include Queer Fish, a winner of the American Poetry Journal Book Prize and The Death Spiral from Black Lawrence Press. Dr. Giragosian’s writing has appeared in such journals as Orion, Ecotone, Tin House, Pleiades and Prairie Schooner. She teaches at the University at Albany-SUNY. www.sarahgiragosian.wordpress.com
Maggie Greaves is associate professor of poetry and poetics at Skidmore College. She is both a scholar of poetry and a poet. Her scholarly book, Lyric Poetry and Space Exploration (Oxford University Press) uncovers surprising relationships between NASA and poetry. Jackie Craven toys with theories of time in WHISH, winner of the 2024 poetry award from Press 53. Other titles include Secret Formulas & Techniques of the Masters from Brick Road Poetry Press and chapbooks from Headmistress Press and Omnidawn. Her writing has appeared in journals such as AGNI, Alaska Quarterly Review, The Cincinnati Review, Pleiades, and Ploughshares.
