“Mass Confusion” Picked for Book Cover

A watch, a handkerchief, and broken eggs in a detail from a larger painting by Sharon Craven Kinzer

“Mass Confusion,” oil on masonite, by Sharon Craven Kinzer is now a book cover!

Shown here is just a detail from Kinzer’s large and complex trompe l’oeil painting. The full painting is reproduced on the cover of WHISH, a collection of time-themed prose poems by her sister, Jackie Craven.  A wistful narrator and shape-shifting characters—managers, bookkeepers, secretaries—manifest as hours of the day in the startling and surrealistic collection.

WHISH won the 2024 Award for Poetry at Press 53. See the cover design for WHISH >
